I can recall seeing The Shadow of the Vampire with ms. lupner and miz chris.
my strong recollection is that ms. lupner thought the flick was really, really great ["the bees knees!"] until a suddenly vicious, unexpected [well, probably *very* expected, except that the filmmaker carefully lulled us, th' bastid] violent act about 3/4 o' the way through.
thence onward, she was full of hatred and anger
but in a kindhearted way, of course. as is her wont
You are correct, sir. To this day that seems to be barely all I can remember about the film . . . and I maintain that it was an unnecessarily gratuitous display. As I recall.
If it did in fact occur only 3/4 through the film, I must have shut down completely, as was thinking it was more at the very end . . .
Insert shrieking here.
ReplyDeleteThanking God that I didn't happen to see this before getting myself to bed last night. Shudder.
That's not to say I don't appreciate the thought . . .

ReplyDeleteYou have NO idea how many times the Mythical Monkey has heard that . . . .
PS
ReplyDeleteMy Word Verification code for that last entry was "SUBBLE" which my comment was decidedly not
Yeah, the only woman I'm allowed to give nightmares before retiring is Katie-Bar-The-Door ...

Hate to word it so strongly, but -- yuck.
