Elizabeth Taylor, 1932-2011

I'm sure others would point to a different scene, but I think it was this moment with Montgomery Clift in 1951's A Place in the Sun that lifted Elizabeth Taylor to the status of film icon. R.I.P.

  1. Sad day. But she made it to 79. What with all her health problems, it's a wonder. She was one of a kind.

  2. To me the key moment is when she shuts the fridge with her hip shake in WOOLF.

PS - in response to your "About Me" description: "And gettin' a lot of lyin' answers."

    Take it easy.

  3. I agree with you, mr. Monkey. I discovered miss Taylor and learned to love her after saw "A place in the sun" in the 80's... She is a diamond, shining forever. See her photo gallery at Elizabeth Taylor sorry, it's in portuguese - I'm from Brazil...

  5. She was wonderful in the film, A Place in the Sun. I think my all time favorite Elizabeth Taylor, film is Mogambo.

  6. Mogambo? Ava Gardner and Grace Kelly were the actress in that film.

Some of my favorite Elizabeth Taylor movies star Ava Gardner -- The Night of the Iguana, for example.

In fact, many of the best Liz Taylor movies don't star Liz Taylor at all -- Casablanca, North By Northwest and Star Wars among them.
