Tired Of Waiting

I got tired of waiting for Blogger to get their act together, re: restoring lost comments, so I cut-and-pasted together copies of them and posted them in their respective comments sections—the posts about haikus, The Sound of Music and pirates, to be specific.

Oh, and did anyone else notice that 25 votes disappeared overnight from the poll about our favorite movie pirate?

  1. Oh, well, go ahead and give those votes to Errol. I'm sure they were all for him. : )

I gave up on getting the comments back.

  2. There were more than a dozen comments in my case and their loss really interrupted some interesting conversations.

You know, if Blogger keeps this up, I might actually have to start talking to people face-to-face again. Shudder.

  3. You're right about Errol Flynn, by the way. I think he's going to be the clear-cut winner, lost votes notwithstanding.

    Well, let's face it -- he's good!

  4. Re: pirate thing, immediately thought 'Errol Flynn!" and then realized that I was thinking of Robin Hood, not pirate movies, but -- swashbuckling and all that jazz -- he had the charm and athleticism and panache, etc. that made the best pirate. Or Robin Hood, for that matter.

Wow, thank you for The Kinks musical interlude. I so love The Kinks!

  5. Hey, lupner! How're you doing?

I was just thinking about you the other day -- I was reading through some notes for future posts and ran across the following: "George Clooney (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) ... lupner opined that Clooney was channeling Clark Gable ... right down to the pencil-thin moustache." And indeed, I do believe he was.

  6. Heya, MythMonk! All's well here, happy to be coming to end of a rather busy school year and looking forward to lighter workload this summer. Hope you and KBTD are enjoying the Spring and perhaps some good Nats games with Mister Mule and his lady.

Am so glad you agree re: CG's influence on that role for GC. It bugged me thru about half the film before I realized that it was Clark G. in comedy mode tugging on my sleeve ... and in fact it was the first role in which I actually enjoyed a George C. performance, though there have been several since.

  7. I also liked Clooney in Out of Sight and Three Kings, both of which surprised me since I hadn't liked him even a little bit before then. But since O Brother, Where Art Thou, I've pretty much liked him in everything.
