Fritz and Tony

Am I the only person here who stopped the Blu-Ray player while watching Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained when Christoph Waltz introduced his two horses as "Fritz and Tony" and said, "Hey, William S. Hart and Tom Mix!" For it is a fact that the names of the horses belonging to the silent era's two greatest cowboys were Fritz the Pinto Pony and Tony the Wonder Horse.

That Tom and Tony on top, Bill and Fritz down below. (Do you suppose Tony signed his own name?)

  1. Gee -- I haven't thought about firing up the Blu-Ray player to watch Django Unchained.

I enjoy C. Waltz immensely, but can't invite the image of Jamie Foxx into my home. . . .

  2. We've owned the Blu_ray I guess since it came out but we resisted it, despite being Tarantino fans, thinking it might be heavy or unpleasant. Turned out to be a total hoot, with C. Waltz doing all the talking and Jamie Foxx being more of the silent Clint Eastwood spaghetti Western type -- although that's not quite his character either. But it is probably the best thing he's ever done in a movie.

Let's put it this way, Katie-Bar-The-Door found it to be completely entertaining Saturday evening fare. And Rio Bravo is one of her three favorite movies, so she knows her stuff.
