James Ellroy, author of the novel L.A. Confidential, is one of my favorite writers — wild, jittery, paranoid, cranked on Benzedrine and black coffee, writing twenty-three hours a day. Linear, he is not. That director Curtis Hanson and screenwriter Brian Helgeland were able to pull one of the best movies of the decade out of Ellroy's gloriously convoluted epic is one of the miracles of movie history and a testament to their commitment and craft.
I temporarily closed it. Somebody stuffed 25 or so votes in there for Judi Dench. You know, if one is going to stuff the ballot box, one can at least be subtle about it.
Hmmmm; for some reason, I am foreclosed from voting for best actress. On all years; I've missed the last month's polls.
ReplyDeleteGoddamn Army jeep. . . .

ReplyDeleteBut for you, I'll reopen it.
I would stuff the ballot box for Douglas Fairbanks, I think . . . .
ReplyDeleteBut not Chaney; he was a fraud. Bastard
I miss the Douglas Fairbanks / Lon Chaney flame wars. Them were good days indeed.
