2013 Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tournament

It's official: Monty of All Good Things will once again be hosting his much-beloved March Madness Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tournament in, yes, March—128 actresses in all—and this time around, he's asked the Monkey to manage the 1960s bracket.

Which means starting sometime early next year, you can once again expect to be inundated with silliness such as this:

  2. ...looking forward to it!!!

...AAANNNDDD, just as a reminder... IF y'all wish to remove Miss Rogers from the proceedings this year, that is fine and dandy, after the 'issues' from last year...not from y'all, of course, but from the 'general voting public'... as again, the general concern is that I (and most G-ologists) would prefer that Ginger is not subject to any 'accusations'...

It is ultimately entirely up to y'all, of course... but in a way, it may be good to 'retire' past winners anyway... maybe? Just a thought...

Thanks for the info!!! Hope all goes well for the setup!!!

  3. As I recuperate from a torn right quadricep I suffered last month, which effectively led to a shutdown of "Carole & Co." for roughly three weeks (hope that explains my recent invisibility as I now heal at home), I can plan my Lombard campaign for 2013, with hopes that this indeed might be the year.

  4. I think Monty is going to retire the annual winner of the tournament from subsequent tournaments -- treat it like an election to the all-time actress Hall of Fame. So Ginger Rogers (and presumably Irene Dunne who won the first one) wouldn't be in this year's tourney.

But it's Monty's tournament. I'm just hosting part of it so he doesn't have 64 different polls going simultaneously.

As far as the vote totals last year, they didn't bother me at all, but there were accusations freely flying around in the comments section. I don't even know how one would manipulate a vote, and I don't see anything wrong with marshaling as many friends as you can to vote for your favorite. Elections are as much about intensity of support as they are about raw numbers.

But I sure enjoyed writing up my nonsensical post-vote summaries with made-up quotes from my favorite actresses! (Which, admittedly, is not the same as saying anybody enjoyed reading them.)

  5. By the way, so far I've made eight of these preview banners -- I'll trot them out from time to time.

  6. ...cool. BTW, a bit ironic that my next GingerFilm review is Roberta, with Ginger and Irene...

...let the tourney begin! I'll post a 'ad' on G-ology for it...
