Tie Breaker: Rio Bravo Or The Searchers

The first round of voting in the Classic Hollywood directors bracket is complete. Alfred Hitchcock won an easy victory over Billy Wilder (although several readers commented that it was a frustrating choice).

On the other hand, John Ford and Howard Hawks finished in a dead heat. So to break the tie, here's another question: which of these classic Westerns do you prefer?

Rio Bravo

or

The Searchers

(Vote in the poll at the top right hand side of the page.)

You have until Tuesday evening to decide.

I couldn't even vote amongst the directors, because they were all brilliant. This one is a killer, too. Love both movies, but, I thought John Wayne was fabulous in 'The Searchers.' A man with secrets and a hero who was human.

The Searchers.
FOR SURE!
It's one of my favorite movies of all time. Not to mention one of my top John Wayne films.
I love all of John Ford's stuff though.
Especially his bunch of cavalry themed westerns.

Olá malta, são dois grandes filmes... é difícil escolher um... John Wayne é um espetáculo!

My choice is Rio Bravo. It's more rewatchable, and it feels more personal despite the dark subject matter of the searchers.
