What the frickety frack?

If by that, you mean how is that Greer Garson and Rosalind Russell have like 274 votes apiece, I think that competing Facebook-based fan groups are going toe-to-toe with each other. I'm thinking maybe a thousand votes cast by the end of this.

On the other hand, if you mean how did the Republican primaries wind up as a competition between Mussolini with a comb over and the bastard love child of Richard Nixon and Joe McCarthy, I'd say this has been coming at least since Pat Buchanan made an implicit promise in his 1992 campaign -- and maybe even since Nixon's "Southern Strategy" in 1968 -- that the GOP could turn back the demographic clock to a time when white Christians rolled out of bed in the morning knowing they were in charge of the culture, and the party establishment latched on to the anger he unleashed and wink-winked and wrote checks they couldn't cash and now they're paying the piper.

On the other, other hand, if you mean how did the Washington Nationals pull out a one-run extra innings win on the road yesterday in Atlanta despite bad base running and a jerry-rigged bullpen that imploded on cue, I'd say just lucky, I guess. But it sure was fun to watch.

and before you ask, no, I don't think Trump v. Cruz is purely about race and culture. I also think it's a backlash against the promise of supply-side economics, that if we cut the top tax rates, the beneficiaries of those policies would invest their savings in a way that would trickle down and create jobs and higher wages for everyone. Instead, hedge fund managers have used the windfall to buy golden toilets for their 30-room mansions in the Hamptons.

To paraphrase a line from my favorite Clint Eastwood movie The Putlaw Josey Wales, "Don't trickle down my back and tell me it's raining."

Which doesn't mean any of these lying sacks of sunshine -- and in that group I include Bernie Sanders -- have offered any realistic solutions to the problem. It's just that a large segment of the voting public isn't buying anymore.

But that's just my opinion, not an invitation to talk rancid politics in my the comments section. I will ruthlessly delete anything even remotely uncivil or troll-like or cut-n-paste-esque or all caps-ish or any of the usual comment blather that makes me despair for the future of humanity.

Yep that's the reason several Facebook fan groups for both ladies have been sharing the link and getting the word out. And I've been posting on my FB blog page of all the matches so word is out on FB. And Twitter as well.
