1997 was a pretty good year for movies. I prefer L.A. Confidential to Titanic or the other popular choice, Boogie Nights, but you can't go wrong with whatever you pick ...

Ten nominees for best pitcher. I prefer nine of them to that bloated Titanic.
I saw Titanic in the theater when it came out, thought it was pretty good, not great, and have never been tempted to rewatch it. Titanic is one of those movies that once you've seen it, there's no need to see it again.
Funny story: Roger Ebert said he got a lot of complaints that he'd "spoiled" the movie when he mentioned in his review that the boat sank. His feeling was that if you didn't know going in that the real-life Titanic sank, you were too stupid to see the movie.
Have seen many versions of this story … the boat sinks in every one
