While I'm working on Part Two of my essay about Jean Harlow, here's a clip of the only color footage ever shot of her, from 1930's Hell's Angels.(And before you say, hey, wait, wasn't that a black-and-white movie, I'll tell you that Hollywood had an odd habit back in the day of inserting color scenes -- usually of a lavish party, as here -- into otherwise black-and-white movies. See, for example, The Wedding March and The Women.)

When I watched "Hell's Angels", I became so confused at that scene! I was like "I'm sure it was black and white a minute ago..." and then, when it switched back, "Wait...it was colour a few seconds ago!!" ;D Jean looked stunning though...
they're certainly lovely, that Jean Harlow. . . .
