Yes, it was two years ago today that we here at the Monkey posted for the first time. What a wild trip it has been—we started with The General in 1927, crawled forward to 1933 and then allowed the tide of history to sweep us back into the first decade of film. But I promise we'll start moving forward again. One day. Maybe when the economy recovers ...
In any event, we here at the Monkey plan to party 'til dawn. Join us.
Wow, two years and I just found you! I love your style, and just quoted your Bombshell/Harlow piece on my own blog, Acidemic. Brilliant. Congratulations! You're going on my blogroll! Put me on yours! You have so many great blogs on yours it staggers the imagination. Oooh OOh, I wanna be like yoou too!
Ironically, I just found your blog, too -- as is often the case through KC's Classic Movies site. And before I could log in and add you to my blogroll, you beat me to the punch.
For those of you reading the comments, you can find Acidemic by clicking here.
If I have to wait for Cary, it will be well worth the wait.
I sure hope I live long enough to write about Cary -- I already have notes for The Awful Truth, Bringing Up Baby, Holiday, The Philadelphia Story and His Girl Friday, and there';ll be many more after that, as well.
I love The Jungle Book, this makes me so absolutely nostalgic :-)
I'm with you Lady San Pedro -- this is one of my favorite Disney movies. In fact, maybe Katie-Bar-The-Door and I ought to take the DVD out of the cabinet and watch it again tonight ...
Named for Katie-Bar-The-Door, the Katies are "alternate Oscars"—who should have been nominated, who should have won—but really they're just an excuse to write a history of the movies from the Silent Era to the present day.
To see a list of nominees and winners by decade, as well as links to my essays about them, click the highlighted links:
Remember: There are no wrong answers, only movies you haven't seen yet.
The Silent Oscars
And don't forget to check out the Silent Oscars—my year-by-year choices for best picture, director and all four acting categories for the pre-Oscar years, 1902-1927.
Look at me—Joe College, with a touch of arthritis. Are my eyes really brown? Uh, no, they're green. Would we have the nerve to dive into the icy water and save a person from drowning? That's a key question. I, of course, can't swim, so I never have to face it. Say, haven't you anything better to do than to keep popping in here early every morning and asking a lot of fool questions?

Ooby dooby dooby, I'm gone, man.
Actually, I'm gonna stick around. If I have to wait for Cary, it will be well worth the wait.
P.S. You're looking a little rough in the photo. Pace yourself with the partying, mm. : )
Congratulations!

Two years? Really? Congrats Monkey Man!
Two years? Really? Congrats Monkey Man!
Time flies when you're having fun.
Actually, it flies whether you're having fun or not, so by all means, choose fun.
Now if only the Monkey could sing and dance like King Louie.
You'd think it would be enough that I look like King Louie. Sheesh, there's no pleasing some people ...
Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. Two years. Time sure flies. Best wishes and many more, Tom
