Today would have been Buster Keaton's 114th birthday if he had taken better care of himself. I recommend you celebrate by going to your local library, checking out an armful of Keaton movies and watching them with someone you love. I particularly recommend Our Hospitality, The Navigator, Sherlock Jr., The General, Steamboat Bill Jr. and The Cameraman.
Note: This is as close to a blog post as you're going to get this weekend. I've been under the weather ever since Wednesday night when Katie-Bar-The-Door, Mister Muleboy and I went to the last Nationals home game of the season. Justin Maxwell did hit a walk-off grand slam to win it, but related or not, I've been sick ever since. Instead of my usual crystal-clear thought processes and cheerful bonhomie, I've been fuzzy headed and cranky.
So no blog entries for you today.

Buster Keaton and pup. This I like! Do you know if the photo's hand-colored? Looks it, sort of. One glance at this picture and I feel better. I hope it worked the same for you.
I don't know if it's hand-colored or not -- I got it off "Dr. Macro's High Quality Movie Scans" site and they didn't say one way or the other. Love the picture though.
Completely off the subject, Katie-Bar-The-Door and I saw Champagne For Caesar tonight, Ronald Colman's last feature film. Got it from Netflix. Good movie. A very pleasant 99 minutes.
slacker !!
I've been awaiting Champagne for Caesar from Netflix for weeks! (Haven't seen it in years.) Seems my son no longer bumps my choices from the cue, so my wife has taken over the job! I must have enemies! And I'm still trying to find the 1931 Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court with Will Rogers. I suppose I could buy it on VHS (shudder) - but is a DVD out there?
Hmm. Maybe I have your copy of Champagne For Caesar -- I'll be sure to mail it back to Netflix tomorrow.
As for Will Rogers in A Connecticut Yankee, if it's on DVD, it's well hidden. On the other hand, you can get a used VHS tape through amazon.com for a little under $6. But you've really got to want to see a movie if you're willing to watch it on VHS these days.
If I stumble over it somewhere, I'll let you know.
Sickness sucks! Please get well soon!
Thanks, Who. With any luck, I'm on the tail end of this thing. I won't regale you with tales of woe, but I'm hoping maybe tomorrow to get back to the regular business of blogging ...
are you happy to see me Buster or is that a puppy in your pocket?
