I've got a few posts in the works, including the award for best director of a drama (1932-33) and best actress in a comedy or a musical (also 1932-33).
In the meantime, how about a new Monkey poll? Of the previous winners of the Katie-Bar-The-Door award for best actress in a lead role, who is your favorite?
Mary Pickford
Lillian Gish
Louise Brooks
Marlene Dietrich
Norma Shearer
Remember: there are no wrong answers, just movies you haven't seen yet.

I admire them all equally, so perhaps I'll change my vote each day and I'll surprise myself as to who I have chosen in the end. : )
This is the best category so far among the award winners. Although best director is pretty darn good, too, but who wants to look at those guys?
Lulu. It's always Lulu.
Norma Shearer - I know she isn't a favorite around here but I love her and her emoting. I got hooked when I saw "A Free Soul".

Ah, we love her enough to name her the best actress of 1931-32. A Free Soul and Private Lives were terrific movies.
Ooh, I do love Lulu. BUT...I love Lillian Gish and Norma Shearer a lot also...
Btw, I just found your blog!! I love it!!! *following avidly*
My Lilli of the Lamplight,
My own Lilli Marlene
Best, Gerald
