While as many as 98 votes have been cast (in the Joan Crawford-Marlene Dietrich contest), none of the Round Two races here at the Monkey is closer than ten votes. Meanwhile, each of the other host sites have some real barnburners going (if burning a barn is your idea of a good time).
In the 1940s bracket, Vivien Leigh leads Gene Tierney by a single vote, 28-27; and Olivia de Havilland leads Katharine Hepburn, 30-28.
In the 1950s bracket, Audrey Hepburn leads Deborah Kerr, 40-32.
And in the 1960s bracket, Susannah York leads Julie Christie, 26-23, and Catherine Denueve leads Lee Remick, 28-24.
It's fun to vote here at the Monkey, but don't forget to vote in these other tight races.

Thanks for the update John. This round might have a few upsets it seems.
Quick visits and a few quick votes make me think a few fillies are beginning to stretch out their leads. . . .
Looks like another Tourney record has fallen, Monty -- 103 votes and counting in the Crawford-Dietrich match-up.

Well, I can't tell until I've seen them over a distance of ground. They've got a touch of class, but I don't know how far they can go. I guess a lot depends on who's in the saddle ...
I see that John..that's the one thing about records..they are meant to be broken. Hey have you been over to the 40's era. Talk about upsets. Looks like Vivien Leigh may be going home early! Gene Tierney has stayed with her and now passed her.I can't wait for tomorrow when my girl Carole is back in action.
Swanson.
A fucking travesty. . . .
You big-shot critics with your mouthiness and your. . . words. . . are what's wrong with pictures today.
Swanson.
Harumph
I'm with you, Doug -- but what can you do? You can lead a voter to water, but you can't make him drink.
By the way, I did a little meaningless math. On imdb.com, Sunset Boulevard (Gloria Swanson's most famous role) has received 72,494 votes. All of Mary Pickford's movies combined received 19,579 votes -- and that includes 4,589 votes for Ben-Hur where she (and the rest of Hollywood) was sitting somewhere in the crowd at the chariot race.
Her five most popular starring roles:
Coquette -- 1,130
Daddy-Long-Legs -- 776
Stella Maris -- 762
Cinderella -- 598
The Hoodlum -- 572
It's hard to overcome the fact that not that many people have seen her movies.
That, and Sunset Boulevard is a great, great movie.

I suppose that you intend to stick with that kind of thinking?
It's no wonder we're in the mess we're in.
I am much more distressed that so many people who care about this kind of poll first voted for Susannah York over Liv Ullmann and now are voting for her over Julie Christie. I mean, York was an enjoyable actress, especially in Tom Jones. But over Ullmann and Christie? I just can't understand that at all.

Yeah, I have no idea where the Susannah York love is coming from. I was surprised she beat Ullmann but figured maybe the voters aren't into Bergman movies. But Julie Christie?
It looks like York will take on Catherine Deneuve in the next round. Normally, I'd say Deneuve is a lock in that one -- but then I figured Christie was a lock, too, so who knows.
