Today's Oscar Trivia #2

I cannot tell a lie: The questions are ripped off straight from TCM's Now Playing magazine.

As was the case yesterday, no prizes for being smart. Just like in real life.

Love At First Sight Several women have been nominated for acting Oscars in their film debuts. What 1953 comedy did the trick for Maggie McNamara?

Most Nominated Actor Who is the most nominated actor in Academy history, with 12 nominations that included three wins?

Husbands And Wives Three times husband and wife have been nominated as actors in the same film. For what 1957 mystery did Charles Laughton and Elsa Lanchester win their nominations?

Too easy, man.

1) The Moon is Blue

2) Jack Nicholson

3) Witness for the Prosecution

I should probably steal from a tougher source ...

2 down, 29 to go.

I've never understood what's wrong with offering someone an easy quiz.

That's what got me where I am today -- easy quizzes.

But MovieNut14, you plainly seek a more challenging quiz, so I'll offer it:

Under what circumstances should Schrödinger's cat have an illicit affair with a certified entrant in the Social Register?

PS

And MovieNut14? Lemme tell you -- anyone with the good sense to list On The Waterfront and The Beatles on a list of likes is pretty goddamned alright in my book!

You'd be surprised how often this comes up.

You know, according to the "many-worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics, the cat is both having and not having an illicit affair simultaneously, in different, separate, though equally real branches of the universe. But, and this is key, the two versions of the cat cannot get involved in a menage a trois with themselves and the society dame.

Which for those of us who know the cat is quite frankly a relief.

Goddamnit.

That MovieNut14 has actually nailed yesterday afternoon's quiz, making him two for two.

I like this kid; I like her style . . . .

How could someone be "him" and "her" in the same comment?

Why, according to the "many-worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics,, of course. . . .
