what's your view of a Johnny Depp THIN MAN?
I'm a big fan of both the movies with William Powell and Myrna Loy, and the original Dashiell Hammett novel they're based on, and I'll say there's quite a difference between the two -- so there's plenty of territory for a new movie to explore. Plus I think Johnny Depp is a terrific actor. Besides, some of my favorite movies were remakes -- The Wizard Of Oz, Ben-Hur, The Maltese Falcon, etc. So I'm willing to keep an open mind on the subject.
What do others of you think?
The first vol. of Les Vampires (a couple of the serials?) was available on Netflix Instant Streaming for a while, so I got to see some of it.
My main introduction was via the 1996 Irma Vep - a funny, self-reflexive film. I won't say much except it included a scene of film-makers watching a film of themselves watching a film.
I'm looking forward to your posts.
If the rest of the serial is available from Netflix, I'd recommend it -- Musidora as Irma Vep shows up around episode 3 and it really takes off. It's not that she's such a dish, but she owns the screen.
Not to mention she's delightfully evil ...
